Its been too long time from my last blog update. Too much has been shown in FB.
I have tried to make more work with the tapestry lately. It is not so much to do out now, which helps.
During the Middle Ages. the term "artisan" was applied to those who made things or provided services. It did not apply to unskilled labourers. Artisans were divided into two distinct groups: those who operated their own businesses and those who did not. Those who owned their businesses were called masters, while the latter were the journeymen and apprentices.

A&S loop
I come back over and over again in to old themes in my Arts and Science projects.
This time it is medieval city of Tournai.
Tournai was one of the tapestry weaving centres at the time. I have visited and stayed overnight in there.
My very first copper printing plate is town map of Tournai.
Now I have reached Tournai from an other point of view. It is again a map, but made by computer game Forge of Empires. There was, ofcourse, some problems with a scale of the buildings and roads.
Here is a result.
This is the original map.
Now I will quit playing that game. It has some features I do not like. And next I will move more and more further in timeline.

New Year 2016 update
I have not made updates lately, but it does not been that I have not done anything.
First part of the Christmas holiday went sewing a Tudor Gown. Materials are wool, linen and real fur.
After that I continue weaving a tapestry.

Cartoon is ready
I got the cartoon printed in to the paper on 30 euros in mainosbuumi. Now I finally have a real feeling how the tapestry will look like.
The style of the map is very similar than the Sheldon tapestries. Biggest difference is that I will change the background colour, to show fields. In Sheldon tapestries there were no fields shown. That makes my cartoon to be a mixed image and map, if you think that maps of Sheldon tapestries were closer the image.

Example of the Sheldon tapestry is below. It is hard to understand difference, since Sheldon tapestries has very small changes in background. On my tapestry there are quite big areas of field, which wll be more yellow, separating them from the green forrest.
